Last Post

I can't believe this year has gone so fast now all of the year 6's are now going to intermediate I mean so fast right? Now these three picture are the this that I'm going to take with me when I leave this school. I will never forget the amazing Mrs Pittaway! The most fabulous teacher in the whole year 6 I mean in our class I just love it when she does the cross eyes it just makes me giggle a bit. And last but not least I will still remember the thoughtful and loving ROOM 19!!!

Augget´s classroom - Meilaniah (MATH)

WALT: calculate the perimeter and area of shapes.

Reflection:
I was able to find the area by multiplying the length and width of the shapes. I was also able to add or multiply the length of each part of the shape.

What I need to improve on is to understand my decimals if I am converting them into the meters. So next time what I need to improve is to understand my decimals if I'm converting them.

Language Features

Reflection:
I was able to re-read the part in the story where I thought there was a specific language feature.

What I found difficult was understanding some of the language features because some of them seemed a bit difficult to understand but it got easy. So what I need to improve on is to understand some of the language features a bit more.

Precious McKenzie

Walt: edit my Precious McKenzie work independently to identify errors and get my Book Creator ready for publishing.

Click this link to see my Precious McKenzie book

Reflection:
I was able to re-read my sentences to make sure no words were out and my sentences made sense. I was also able to look carefully at my I wonder question sentences to find any words that has the red line under the word so I can correct my mistake.

Next time I will use this Walt not for my Precious McKenzie but for other things e.g- emails, and writing.

This is my portrait about wonder and it's a really fun game because you get to shape your head and you get to choose what kind of hair you want and you get to have your own precept.

WALT: use new words for my acrostic poem

WALT: use new words for my acrostic poem

My Refection:

I was able to find words that I don usually use on my writing and put on to my Wonder poem. What I found difficult was writing the sentence that relates to the wonder story , and just to say the wonder book is so interesting.

Next time I think that I should improve on making the sentence that relates to the Wonder book.

Speech

WALT: write and present a speech using APPA criteria.

Reflection:

I was able to use some of the APPA criteria by having a loud voice or using eye contact when I'm presenting my speech.

So next time I will need to use more of the APPA criteria then just using some of the APPA criteria, so my speech could sound better.

Decimal addition

WALT: use a variety of strategies to solve addition problems that involve decimal numbers.

Reflection:
On the mental strategy I was able to write my problem as a equation by adding the 2.3 with 4.35. On the written strategy I was able to expand my equation as a decimal.

Next time what I will need to improve on is remembering to rule a line under my answer.

Speeches 2017

Walt: deliberately choose words to create an effect on the audience.

Reflection:

In my speech I was able to use some of the  pervasive words and some of the emotive words in my speech.  And how I effect the audience is by having some emotive words in my speech and I think that is all I had.
Next time I should use more and more of pervasive words and more of the emotive words, that is all I need to work on.

WALT: understand that people celebrate in different ways

WALT: understand that people celebrate in different ways

I was able to understand that other country's celebrate in different ways like the celestial Dance or the nut-bush dance. But I could not done this without my mates ( Sukie, and Caitlin:)

WALT: Locate and evaluate in formation about Usain Bolt, on the internet

WALT: Locate and evaluate in formation about Usain Bolt, on the internet

I was able to locate Usain Bolt by looking at the internet and what i found out was that Usain Bolt is born in Jamaica August the 6th in 1986. And I was also able to do evaluate in formation by reading carefully at the facts, or information about Usain Bolt.

Next time I would love to locate and evaluate in formation about another person.

Ghost- Making a Predication

Walt: make a prediction based on the cover and blurb of Ghost by Jason Reynolds

I was able to look at the pictures to me ideas and clues about the story. What I was unable to do was looking at the blurb and trying to find keywords to make me have a clue or a idea of the story.

So next time I would look carefully at the blurb to find keywords to make me have an idea of the story.

Matariki Celebration - Phases of the Moon

Matariki Celebration - Phases of the Moon

My Refection:

When I first started it was a bit hard for me but I then after the lesson I learnt that waxing means getting bigger and waning is getting smaller, and that there are  eight phases of the moon. My brilliant teacher Mrs Pittaway made it confusing by making them all muddled up because we're year 6's.

Next time I would love to do more of this and try to not get tricked because I know that my marvelous teacher Mr Pittaway has more up her sleeve.

Mini Investigation - Easter

WALT: Understand passing on messages is important so we understand why we celebrate.

Me and my Group - Caitlin, Sukie, and Shaniqua did the mini investigation about easter.  I found out that we have eggs in easter because it's the symbol of a new life or a new beginning, it's a tradition of getting hard boiled eggs during the time of spring.

I now understand what easter means, and I think that we should tell everyone about easter because if we didn't they will just think that easter is just a day when we all get chocolate. But it goes more deeper that that.

Writing Evidence

WALT: use persuasive words in my writing.

Reflection:

I was able to use persuasive words in my writing.

Next time I think that I need to work on is putting more persuasive words in my writing, so when I write my speech their will be heaps of persuasive words in my speech. That will persuade the audience that we need to work more harder to look after the environment.

Maths - Fraction Ordering

Walt : order fractions with the same denominator

I knew how to order fractions by looking at the numerator, And then I knew that one is the smallest and eight is the biggest.

Next time I'll not look at the numerator any more because I'm know going to learn how the the numerator stays the same but the denominator changes, and that's called unit fractions. I can't wait!

The Queen's Secret

Walt: identify and describe what the author wanted me to feel, think about or see and how this relates to the author's message.

Reflection:

What I identified about this story was that the queen told a secret and Maud told the other people about it, then it get more . And that the author made the story  humorous, and it made me giggle a bit. I also found out that the character's names were based on their jobs. I found out that the moral of the story was that you have to listen probably or you'll get the message wrong.

I think that I could understand more about my WALT because I din't really understood the WALT.

Using Quotation Marks

WALT: Use advance punctuation accurately e.g quotation marks.

Reflection:

I was able to do well in my test because I knew where the quotation marks are suppose to be. Like for an e.g: Mrs P said "Good morning everyone." The trick that I got was the thinking one, because you don't need quotation marks when your thinking.

I found this really challenge because I had to look at the question really carefully and take the test really slowly. All I need to work on is practicing the quotation marks more and more until I finally locked it in my brain.
